An Adventure Holiday to Remember

Last summer, fifteen-year-old Ryan joined an adventure holiday camp in Cyprus with his cousin Leo. Although Ryan enjoyed watching sports, he had never tried any extreme activities before and felt nervous about participating in them himself. However, he hoped the trip would help him become more confident and independent.

The first few days did not go as smoothly as Ryan had expected. Shortly after arriving at the camp, the group’s kayaking lesson was cancelled because of strong winds near the coast. Several disappointed participants complained loudly, while others decided to spend the afternoon exploring the local area instead.

The following day, the students took part in a rock-climbing activity. At first, Ryan refused to climb higher than a few metres because he was frightened of falling. However, the instructor patiently explained the safety equipment and encouraged him not to give up. In spite of feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed, Ryan eventually reached the top of the climbing wall.

Later that week, the camp organised a scuba-diving lesson near the Blue Lagoon. Ryan was worried because he had never used professional diving equipment before. Although he nearly changed his mind again, he slowly became calmer underwater after the instructor stayed close to him and repeated the safety instructions several times.

Unfortunately, another problem appeared on the final day of the holiday. Less than an hour before leaving for the airport, Ryan realised that he had accidentally left his passport inside his room at the camp. Although everyone panicked at first, they managed to find it and arrive at the airport just in time.

After returning home, Ryan admitted that the holiday had completely changed his attitude towards adventure sports. Despite all the difficulties and fears, he described the experience as unforgettable.
