Listening + Reading for Semester II (Grade 8, NUS) is based on the topics and language material of Modules 5–8 and created according to the requirements of the New Ukrainian School curriculum.
The tasks assess students’ receptive language skills:

Reading
The work is organised according to the I group of learning outcomes of NUS and focuses on:
understanding spoken and written texts;
identifying main ideas and hidden details;
interpreting events, facts, and characters’ actions;
analysing logical connections between events;
understanding implied meaning and atmosphere in texts;
using critical thinking while completing different task types.
The materials include vocabulary and communicative situations related to:
mysterious and unusual events;
modern technology and online safety;
travelling and holiday activities;
weather conditions and dangerous situations;
helping others and solving problems;
adventure and suspense stories.
The materials are designed to develop students’ ability to analyse information carefully, understand context, distinguish between explicit and implied information, follow chronological order, and apply topic vocabulary from Modules 5–8 in practical communicative situations.
