Abstract

This research examines the role of English as a global language in facilitating intercultural communication. The study investigates the historical development of English as a lingua franca, the factors contributing to its global spread, and its function in diverse cultural and professional contexts. It also analyzes the challenges and benefits of using English as a shared medium for intercultural interaction, considering both sociolinguistic and pedagogical perspectives.

The research further explores how English proficiency influences intercultural competence and the ability to navigate complex social, professional, and educational environments. By examining both native and non-native speakers, the study highlights the strategies employed to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers, including simplification, clarification, and cultural explanation. These strategies demonstrate the adaptive and dynamic nature of English in global communication.
