Cell Phones in Our Life and Study
Nelly, San Clemente, CA
At San Clemente High School, they let us take cell phones to school, but we aren’t allowed to keep them in class. The teachers make us put our phones in a special closet. I think it’s a good system. I often need my phone on the way to or from school but no one needs a phone in class. We are there to study, not to chat.
Ron, San Antonio, TX
We can use tablets and phones in our French class. Our teacher lets us use a dictionary app. There are a lot of great apps for language classes. Once, we took pictures with our phones and we talked about them in French. We also use tablets in Science to watch experiments online. Devices are useful in school, but we have to have rules about when we can use them.
Kate, Trenton, NJ
Phones distract everyone in class, so, I think they should stay in your schoolbag, but they are also important in class in an emergency. Sometimes, my mom can’t take me home from school, and she needs to text me to tell me. Phones and devices are a normal part of life outside school, so, I think we should be allowed to use them every recess.
Natalie, Palm Beach, FL
I believe mobile phones are incredibly important for most people nowadays. To be honest, phones can also pose a challenge for me and my friends because they can be distracting. On average, I spend about six hours a day on my phone which, I know, is quite a lot! It’s really difficult to stay away from it. There are rules regarding phone usage, such as not using it while driving or in certain places like work or school. I’m actively trying to reduce my screen time because I want to focus more on my studies and use my free time for other activities.
Where does Nelly go to school?
