Look! This is a puppy. His name is Blacky. He isn’t big, he’s little. He’s white,black and grey. Blacky is a nice funny puppy.

Blacky likes bones very much. One day he goes for a walk. He sees a nice big bone. He wants to have it. So he takes the bone and goes home.

Blacky comes up to a river. In the river he sees a puppy. That puppy has got a bone, too. Blacky wants to have that puppy’s bone too. He wants to have two bones.

Blacky jumps into the river. His bone falls into the river. Now he looks for his bone. But he can’t find it. Then he looks for the other puppy’s bone. But he can’t find it.

Now Blacky hasn’t got any bone, because he is greedy.

So Tom went home with his mum and his bike. Mum washed him in the bath with a lot of soap. When he was clean, it was half past two.

“Oh, dear!” cried Tom’s mum. “Your friends are coming soon, and we are not ready!”

So Tom went to tidy his room, and his mum went to cook pizza and lay the table. At ten past three two of Tom’s friends came. They were Mike and Nick.

“Happy birthday to you!” said Nick and gave Tom a big bottle of olive oil. The boys

laughed, but Tom was angry, he wanted to cry, but his friends said, “Don’t be angry. It’s a joke! Best wishes on your ninth birthday!” And they gave Tom a big box. When Tom opened it, he saw a CD, a book about animals and a big jar of jam.

“Thank you, friends!” said Tom and smiled. They sat down to watch a cartoon. Soon Nancy and Cora came. They gave Tom a big cake, an apple pie and a box of Chocolates. Tom was happy.

It was half past four but Silvia wasn’t there.

“Where is Silvia?” asked Tom.

“We don’t know,” answered the children. “Let’s phone her!”

And they phoned Silvia. But she wasn’t at home. So the children sat down at the table. They ate and drank, talked and watched films and cartoons. Then they danced and sang, and Cora played the piano. After that, they listened to new CDs. It was a merry birthdayparty!
