📖 Reading Text: "Fashion and Our Choice"
Fashion is much more than just the clothes we wear every day; it is a way to express our personality and identity. However, in recent years, the fashion industry has changed dramatically due to the rise of fast fashion. Fast fashion refers to inexpensive, trendy clothing produced rapidly by mass-market retailers. While it allows people, especially teenagers, to buy new clothes frequently without spending a lot of money, it comes with a high environmental cost.
The mass production of cheap garments leads to serious problems, including water pollution from chemical dyes, excessive textile waste, and a large carbon footprint from global transport. Millions of tons of discarded clothes end up in landfills every year because low-quality items wear out quickly.
To combat these issues, more young people are turning to sustainable fashion. Sustainable style focuses on choosing eco-friendly materials, buying durable items that last longer, and supporting ethical labor practices. Many teenagers are also exploring vintage clothes — garments from previous decades — which offer a unique look while reducing waste through recycling.
At the same time, discussions about school uniforms remain popular. Many educators support uniforms because they promote equality and reduce peer pressure regarding expensive brand names. On the other hand, students often prefer casual, comfortable clothes that allow them to show their individual taste. Ultimately, modern trends encourage us to dress for the occasion, be mindful of our choices, and prefer quality over quantity to protect our planet.
