Hello and welcome back to English with Smiling Sam! Today, we will be continuing our study of Unit 4 in Lesson 4, and we will be focusing on the first section of this lesson.
In this section, we will be learning about the present perfect tense. The present perfect tense is a verb tense used to describe an action that happened at an unspecified time in the past or that started in the past and continues to the present.
The present perfect tense is formed using the present tense of the verb "to have" (have or has) and the past participle of the main verb. For example, "I have eaten breakfast" or "He has studied English for five years."
It is important to note that the present perfect tense is often used with time expressions such as "already," "just," and "yet." For example, "I have already finished my homework," "She has just arrived at the airport," or "Have you finished your dinner yet?"
Additionally, the present perfect tense is often used to talk about experiences or events in the past that have relevance to the present. For example, "I have traveled to many countries," or "He has worked for this company for a long time."
That's all for now! Remember to practice using the present perfect tense in your own conversations and writing. See you next time for more English with Smiling Sam!
