Island Dzharylgach
Any area, and even more so a beautiful one, has its secrets and legends, its favorite heroes and myths about them, which are now called "contrived" truth. The strange and beautiful island of Dzharylgach, located in the Kherson region. Beautiful in nature and clear sea, animals, plants, landscapes, beaches. Strange - in history and meaning.
Like any respectable geographical object, Dzharylgach appeared for a reason. There are islands created by giants; some, according to local legends, are the backs of huge fish; some were washed away by mighty rivers that brought river sand to a new place. With Dzharylgach - everything is simple and tasteful: it was created by a goddess (one of the versions for tourists).
The beautiful Iphigenia, not wanting to be the wife of the legendary hero Achilles, ran to the sea to plunge into the waves forever. But the goddess Artemis, wanting to save her faithful priestess, began to pour sand in front of her. And the longer she ran, the longer the sandy path became. Thus appeared Dzharylgach and a good hundred kilometers of sandy beaches that reached all the way to the edge of the Tendri Spit. The island is separated from the land by a narrow sea strait, which helps to create and preserve a unique atmosphere.
Dzharylgach is an island of love and sea, stars and songs to the guitar, dolphins and lighthouses, mouflons and deer, sand, shells, relaxation and dreams. Everyone imagines it in their own way. However, it is unlike anything else. Charismatic, strong, silent. Very beautiful. A little aloof. But very generous. It gives out – just like that! – peace, energy, beauty and happiness. Very tactful, does not ask unnecessary questions. You have arrived - it means you need it. Besides - to each his own.
And Dzhaya does not disappoint. No one is left without a gift, without attention. An island of energy and peace, strength and tenderness, knowledge and acceptance. To be honest, this is an unequal exchange - after all, we leave it our sorrows and fears, worries and fatigue. But life is wise. It knows that the island will cope with what we cannot cope with.
For reference: Dzharylgach is the largest island in Ukraine and the Black Sea by area and the second longest by length, uninhabited. It is part of the Dzharylgach National Nature Park. It was mentioned in their works by ancient historians Pliny and Herodotus, and the geographer Ptolemy. Grazing of cattle and sheep turned the area into a desert in the middle of the last century. Now the main elements of the relief are sand dunes (in some places forested), coastal marshy lowlands, estuaries, and sand spits. About 7 km of Dzharylhatskaya Bay separates it from the city of Skadovsk, from where you can get there by boat, yacht, catamaran. The length of the island from west to east is about 42 km, from north to south - 4.6 km. A significant part of the territory is below sea level. The average temperature in summer is 22–24 ° C. This makes the island attractive for vacationers and tourists.
