Purpose of the Test
This listening comprehension test is designed to assess pupils’ ability to:
understand the main idea and specific details of a short everyday conversation;
recognize information about people, places, objects, and time;
identify true/false statements based on the listening text;
apply knowledge of basic vocabulary related to travel, weather, clothing, and daily communication.
Test Structure
6 variants, each containing 12 tasks:
8–9 multiple-choice questions (A/B/C)
3–4 True/False statements
The correct answers are evenly distributed among options A, B, and C.
Each variant checks comprehension of the same listening text but with slight rewording or different focuses (vocabulary, details, sequence).
Language Focus
Lexical topics: travel, packing, weather, clothes, money, transport.
Grammar focus: Present Continuous, Present Simple, question words (what, when, where), modal verbs (can, need).
Communicative functions: giving advice, suggesting, reminding, thanking, expressing opinions.
Skills Tested
Listening for gist – understanding the main topic (Tina’s trip).
Listening for specific information – details about time, objects, and advice.
Listening for inference – understanding implied meaning in responses.
True/False identification – recognizing factual accuracy.
Each correct answer = 1 point
Maximum = 12 points per variant
