Alphabet Train
All the players sit around in a circle. The first player begins, "My train is carrying apples". He uses any word which begins with the letter A. The next player must use a word which begins with B. He may say, "My train is carrying bread". The third player must have something which begins with C. He may say, "My train is carrying cake". The game goes, on around and around until you finish the alphabet. A player who can't think of a word or says a wrong word drops out of the game.
Say it quickly
All players sit in a circle. The leader stands in, the middle and ask questions. The players have to answer with the words beginning with R of S. They can choose any other letters of the alphabet. But the players have to do it quickly, before the leader counts ten. For example, the leader may ask "What is your favourite food?" The answer can be "Sugar" or even "Salt". And to the question "I saw a strange animal in your garden yesterday - what was it?" the answer can be "Squirrel!" A player who is not able to answer a question quickly must pay a forfeit.
Stop
All the players need is a sheet of paper and a pencil. The leader calls out one after another the letters of the English alphabet. Then the teacher says, "Stop!" and the letter is chosen; for example M. Each player must write words beginning with M (moon, men, meet, message, my, make, milk, etc.). At the command "Go!"the players "start writing the words..." They are given 3-5 minutes for completing this task. The one who has the longest list of words will be the winner.
Letters of the Alphabet
From 6 to 20 players can take part in the game. Each player is given a sheet of paper and a pencil. A leader reads a list of 4 or 5 letters of the alphabet. Each player is supposed to write a message using these letters as the first letter of each word, in the order the letters are given. Suppose the letters given are A, B, D and R. One message may read, "A Bear Does Roar". After all the players have finished making up their messages; they take turns reading them out - loud, and it can be funny.
Make a Sentence
Any number of players can play this game.
A. The leader asks one of the players to suggest a letter, for example, M. Then each player is supposed to write a sentence using the letter M as the first letter of each word in the sentence. After all the players have finished their sentences, they are read aloud, and the most interesting sentences wins a prize. Then the players can try some other letter to begin with and the winner can be the first player, to finish his task, etc.
B. The leader asks "the first player to begin a sentence, saying one word only", then the second one must add one more word, the third player tries to think of a third word and so on until the whole sentence is finished. The winner is the one who completes the sentence.
