Study tip
Writing an informal letter
Informal letters are written to a friend or a family member.
You should use informal language and be friendly.
Even though the letter is informal, you still need to write in separate paragraphs and include whatever information the questions ask you to present.
Remember the key things:
use informal language;
start and end your letter in an appropriate way;
ask about a piece of news in the first paragraph;
use exclamation marks when expressing a sudden emotion or wish;
use some structures (e.g. tag questions) to give your letter a friendly feel;
use separate paragraphs for each main point;
use direct questions.
