App Competition
Hi everyone! My name’s Sam Merton, and I’d like to tell you about an exciting competition in the science classes at my school. Everyone needs to send an idea for a new app to their teacher. The winner’s idea will appear on the school website. And the prize for the best idea is £50!
So I’m busy trying to get some ideas. One of my ideas is called Reminder. It’s an app that checks you don’t forget anything in the evenings, say. It tells you to do all sorts of things, like doing your homework and putting your books in your school bag before you go to bed. And it always tells you what time it is, so you can use it as a watch, too.
Another of my ideas is for an app called Videomix that chooses just the right video for you to watch. So for example, when you want something exciting to watch, it finds an exciting video. And when you can’t sleep at night, the app finds a nice, quiet piece of music to make you feel sleepy. My classmates all think this app sounds awesome!
My last idea is for an app called Cycle! that works when you’re on your bike. When you cycle a long way, it can tell you your speed and how far you go, as well as how to improve your cycling speed.
We don’t actually have to build the app. Our teachers just want us to write about one, and why we think it can be useful. Anyway, the truth is, I’d really like an app that can wash the dishes after dinner instead of me, when it’s my turn!
