AN ANCIENT SHOPPING CENTRE
The Stoa of Attalos, which is in the Ancient Agora in Athens, Greece, was one of the oldest shopping centres.
It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamos around 150 BCE. The Stoa became the (1) commercial building or shopping centre in the Agora and was used for centuries.
It was a large building. 116 metres long and had two (2) connected by two staircases. It had (3) of rooms that were used as shops. It had 42 shops in all. The Stoa (4) many people and soon became a place where merchants sold their products.
