Young people in Ukraine and Great Britain live different lives. But nevertheless, their problems have much in common. Probably the most vital problem is choosing a career, which is really difficult. To my mind, the main difficulty is the responsibility you have to take on, because your future life depends on your choice. Also one of the most fundamental problems faced by young people in Ukraine and GB, is unemployment. It means financial worries, frustration and discouragement. Another important problem is the tension which exists between parents and children, or the “generation gap”. I think this problem is inevitable, because every generation is unique in its experiences and values. And parents try to improve their ideas upon their children. One more common problem for young people in Ukraine and GB is love and dating. Some parents today are prepared to give their children some freedom, others are overprotective. For me, the most important problem is that of friendship. Friends are people whose trust and affection you have to win, friendship is art for me We have common interests, likes and dislikes, so having friends is of utter importance for me. As you see, the problems are numerous. Many young people may not be mature enough to cope with them, that's why they go in the direction of crime, drugs, drinking etc. They also compensate for their feelings by revolting against society and adult authority. That's why grown-ups should work together with young people to help them solve these problems. We must remember that the young people are the leaders of tomorrow.

Dear Emily,
Thanks for your letter and for your understanding. I also want to apologize
[that I would get, for getting, to get]1 so angry with you when you said you didn’t want to come to London. It was an
[annoyed, unreasonable, upset] 2 thing to do. You have every right to decline invitations that don’t work for you. 3
[Honest, Fair, Truth] be told, I have been so stressed with personal problems that I didn’t have time to think about plans for my birthday until the last minute. I assumed that, because you are self-employed, you
[would be, are, had been]4 able to alter your plans to fit around mine, but now I understand how
[annoyed is it, annoying it is, annoying is it]for you when people expect you to do that. Also, I’ve always thought that you
[liked, would like, had liked] musicals. If I
[would have known, had known, would known] in advance that you had put the weekend aside for me, I
[would have told, had told, would tell] you that I wasn’t available, and we could have made other plans. Next time, I’ll make plans for my birthday sooner. Sure, I’m happy to
[make up, draw a line, make amends] under this. 10
[When do, Must, Why don`t] don’t we meet sometime in September? Let me know which dates are free for you.
Lots of love from Sarah
