A nightmare holiday

Sooner or later, anyone who wants to try something unusual decides to visit India. One day, I decided to have an Indian adventure, too. What happened after I’d made that decision was a nightmare. Once my friend traveler told me, “In the East, anything that can go wrong, does.” If only I’d listened to him! The trouble started at the airport. My flight to Mumbai got delayed three times! I’d spent 14 hours in the
departure lounge before I could finally board the plane. While I was going through passport control, the immigration officer spilled ink on my visa. So on arrival, of course, I was detained for two hours by a customs officer who thought my visa looked suspicious. In the end, he let me go, but not before I’d paid him a lot of money. I had booked a self-catering room in the Blue Pearl Hotel. To find out how to get there, I went to the tourist information center. Turned out, the hotel was 40 km outside of Mumbai, and the last train that could bring me there had just left the train station! I had to spend the night at a nearby hostel. The room was dirty and smelled bad – there clearly had been a wild party there the night before. There were no windows and no air conditioner, either. At the front desk they told me they only accepted cash. It took me an hour to find a cash machine, but before I could withdraw any money, a group of screaming kids surrounded me. A minute later I realized: they were going through my pockets! I chased them away, but they had already taken my wallet and my phone. I sat down on the pavement, about to cry. Suddenly I heard a clear, nice voice, “Do you need any help?” I raised my eyes and saw the most beautiful young woman I’d ever seen. And that’s how I first met Daphne, my girlfriend. I’ve got to say, that more than made up for the horrible trip!
