It was a sunny spring morning. The birds were singing. The flowers were opening. I woke up early and looked out the window. Easter was coming! I was very happy. I love Easter. I love the sweet candy, the colorful eggs, and the big family lunch. But this Easter was going to be very different.
I put on my shoes and went outside. I wanted to find pretty flowers for my mom. I walked to the field near my house. The grass was green, and the sky was blue. I saw something strange in the middle of the field. It was a small pink hat. It looked like a bunny’s hat.
I walked closer and saw big footprints on the ground. They were not dog prints. They were not cat prints. They were bunny prints! I followed the prints through the field and into the forest.
Suddenly, I saw him — the Easter Bunny! He was sitting on a rock and looking very sad. His ears were down. He did not smile. I went slowly and said, “Hello, are you okay?”
The Easter Bunny looked up. “No, I am not okay,” he said. “I lost my basket!”
“Your Easter basket?” I asked.
“Yes,” he said. “It is full of chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and little toys. I must find it before Easter night. The children are waiting!”
I wanted to help. “Don’t worry,” I said. “We will find it together!”
The Easter Bunny smiled. “Thank you! You are very kind.”
So our adventure began. We looked under trees. We looked behind big rocks. We looked near the river. We saw birds, squirrels, and even a little fox — but no basket.
We stopped to rest under a big tree. I gave the Easter Bunny a cookie from my pocket. He ate it and said, “That was yummy. Thank you!”
Then I had an idea. “Maybe the wind took your basket,” I said. “Let’s go to the hill. It’s windy up there.”
We walked up the hill. The sun was hot, and we were tired. But we didn’t stop. At the top, we looked around. Then I saw something in the tree!
“There!” I shouted. A small brown basket was stuck in a branch.
The Easter Bunny jumped. “That’s it! That’s my basket!”
But the basket was high up. We needed a plan. I found a long stick, and the Bunny stood on a rock. I lifted the stick, and he reached with his paws. “Almost… almost…”
Then — the basket fell! It landed in the grass. We laughed and danced.
“Thank you, thank you!” said the Easter Bunny. “You are a real hero.”
I smiled. “Will you still deliver the eggs tonight?”
“Of course!” he said. “With your help, the children will have a happy Easter!”
He opened the basket. It was full of colorful eggs, sweet candy, and little yellow chicks. He gave me a small pink egg. “This is for you.”
“Thank you!” I said. “This was the best Easter adventure ever.”
The Easter Bunny waved goodbye and jumped away into the forest. I ran home and told my family the story. They laughed and smiled.
Now, every Easter, I look out the window and remember my special friend — the Easter Bunny who lost his basket, and the big adventure we had together.
