Music helps to understand your own character
Music is connected with different school subjects. For example, with maths^ by understanding beat and rhythm children learn how to divide and create fractions.
Music improves discipline and patience
Musical instruments help children to develop coordination and motor skills. String and keyboard instruments such as violin and piano, help to train simultaneous actions of your right and left hands.
Music develops social skills
Music classes require interaction and communication, encourage teamwork. If a child is singing too loudly or speeding up too quickly, he/she'll need to agjust. It's important for children to know and understand their individual part in a large choir.
Music improves academic skills
Playing an instrument teaches kids to train for a long time before they reach specific goals. Group lessons, in which students learn to play the same instruments, also improve patience.
Music introduces children to other cultures
Music lessons may help children understand that nobody, including themselves, is perfect, and that everyone has room for improvement. And, of course, if a child is advanced enough, he/she'll possess musical skills that will help to be much better.
Music develops physical skills
Kids can discover how music plays a critical role in other cultures during music lessons. It's important to introduce children other cultures at a young age, because it develops open-mindedness about different countries and traditions.

Number the events in order they happen in the story. (In the School Orchestra (From Yang the Youngest and His Terrible Ears by Lensey Namioka)
The conductor offered the boy to play the triangle.
After the rehearsal the conductor asked Kim to stay behind and
play a short piece for him.
Matthew wanted to take the violin lessons.
When Kim came out, she was smiling.
The conductor gave Kim and his brother an audition; that is, he
asked each of them to play a few bars of music alone.
A boy, sharing a music stand with Kim’s brother, was Matthew,
his classmate.
Kim and her brother joined the orchestra.
Kim asked Matthew if he would like to come to their house and
meet their elder brother and sister.
