‘What time is it?’ Tom was getting a bit bored as the lesson continued. He reached for his mobile phone to check the time. As soon as he looked at the screen, he noticed the box at the top of the screen informing him that data transfer was in progress. ‘What is going on?!’ It took him a while to realise that someone had accessed his phone data via wi-fi. During the previous break he had exchanged some photos with Alex and had forgotten to switch it off. He quickly removed the battery and the phone went dead. Tom looked around at his classmates to see who had played the joke on him. There! Max was looking at him with a nasty smile on his face.

Hi,
I’ve read your blog entry about the different types of techniques that hackers use to access our Facebook accounts. I must say I found it rather scary! I didn’t realise that there were so many ways to do that. All this phishing, keylogging, session hijacking and so on made me wonder whether my Facebook account is safe. So, could you please write more about what I can do to protect it?
Thanks in advance for your help!

READ THE FOLLOWING TEXT ABOUT TELEVISION. FOR EACH QUESTION (1-2) CHOOSE THE CORRECT ANSWER ACCORDING TO THE TEXT. CIRCLE A, B, C OR D.
With the growing popularity of the Web, it has been predicted by many that the old tellies in the living room are bound to disappear at some point. So, is there a future for television in the tablet and Smartphone era? Several current trends already show that these predictions are unlikely to come true.
Studies have shown that TV is still the dominant medium and viewers of online channels or mobile TV are still in the minority. Some experts believe that the reason for that is that the collective viewing experience is still very important, as families and friends like to sit down together to watch big sporting events or a popular TV series.
As a result of the manufacturers’ efforts to provide consumers with superb image and sound quality, the TV set is becoming an even more important source of entertainment. In the opinion of a large number of experts, the advantage of a big screen with high definition image quality cannot be equalled by the convenience offered by mobile devices.
It is a widely accepted concept among TV manufacturers that most viewers expect new TV models to be equipped with more and more features that allow them to function like computers – USB ports, a wi-fi connection, web browsers and hard disks. These features are crucial so that viewers can browse freely through the mass of programmes available for viewing and share personal content with others.
1. Which of the following is mentioned in the text as a fact, not an opinion?
A People enjoy watching TV programmes in the company of others.
B Traditional television is more popular than internet and mobile TV channels.
C Computer-like features are very important for TV users.
D Convenience comes before picture and sound quality nowadays. [A, B, C, D]
2. From this text, we learn that
A TV sets will be voice-operated.
B people enjoy watching TV in the company of others.
C 3D television will provide excellent quality of image and sound.
D TV sets will enable viewers to download and upload files. [A, B, C, D]
