Youth culture means how young people live, think, and express themselves. It includes their music, clothes, hobbies, and opinions. Young people often want to show who they are and feel free to make their own choices.
Today, we often talk about Generation Z (people born after 2000) and Generation Alpha (the youngest children now). They grow up with technology, the internet, and smartphones. Social media is very important for them. They use apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube to communicate, share ideas, and follow trends.
Music is a big part of youth culture everywhere. In the United States, many young people listen to pop stars like Billie Eilish or hip-hop artists like Drake. In Korea, K-pop bands such as BTS and BLACKPINK are very popular not only in Asia but all around the world. In the United Kingdom, many teenagers like indie or rock music and go to music festivals in the summer.
Fashion is another way young people express themselves. In Japan, some young people wear colourful clothes and special styles like “Harajuku fashion.” In France and Italy, youth like elegant and stylish clothes. In Brazil, young people often wear light, comfortable clothes because of the warm weather.
Young people also care about global problems. Many teenagers support environmental movements and want to protect the planet. For example, Greta Thunberg from Sweden became famous for speaking about climate change.
Youth culture is always changing. Every generation has its own favourite music, clothes, and ways to communicate. But one thing is always the same: young people everywhere want to be themselves, have fun, and make the world a better place.
Youth culture is about how adults live and think.
