We are pleased to report that students at Westpark School have had a very successful sports season this year. More students than ever have joined our school sports clubs, including some new ones such as the (1) - u - - club (good for learning how to defend yourself!) and the (2) ------- club, which is situated beside the river. It is good to see people (3) -------- up sport for pleasure and the school has supported the clubs financially by providing (4) ----------for hire, like (5) ---------------- to protect heads, and even (6) --------- for water sports to stop you freezing in the cold months! This season, we also have finished building the new indoor swimming (7) --------- as well as resurfacing the football (8) ------- and tennis (9) -----. So there has been plenty of opportunity for students to (10) --------- for competitions or simply to get good exercise.

Our school teams have won several (11) --------, including the inter-school hockey cup and the state volleyball (12) -------. Individuals who have done well for the school include all-rounder (13) ------- Tina Betts and high (14) -------- Nick Parks, who also broke the school (15) --------. Outside school, other students have made sporting headlines. Kenny Banks reached the southern area wrestling finals but was unfortunately beaten in the last (16) ------- and (17) --------- Mike Peters has been included in the national gymnastics team for the next international event in Rome.

We were also happy to welcome back to the school the rugby player, Martin Jakes, who is a former student. Martin (18) ------- professionally three years ago. He gave students an interesting talk about fair play in sport and how taking (19) --------- is more important than winning.
