Greenwich
It is a very famous church in London, not far from the Houses of Parliament. The kings and queens were crowned here.

It is in the centre of London and there are lots of cinemas, theatres and shops there. There are always a lot of people there, too.

More than two million people a year visit this famous place. There are wax models of film stars, sportsmen, politicians, writers, and kings and queens.
Westminster Abbey
The beautiful building on the Thames was opened in 1852 after the old palace had been almost totally destroyed by fire. There are two Houses: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Laws are made in the House of Commoms.Big Ben is the name of the bell in the famous clocktower.
Piccadilly Circus
It is a large place in the centre of London with two beautiful fountains .In the middle of the square is Nelson´s Column. Nelson was a famous admiral who defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Trafalgar, Spain ,in 1805. Trafalgar Square is a favourite meeting place for tourists all over the world.
The Tower of London
It is across the River Thames close to the Tower. Parts of the bridge can be raised so that big ships can pass through, but very few come so far up the river nowadays. |
Buckingham Palace
It is one of the best-known sights in London. It was a castle in which kings once lived, a prison in which famous people were killed, and a place where arms were kept.Today it is a museum housing the Crown Jewels.
