Hi Tom,
Sorry I haven’t been in touch, but I had terrible problems with my computer last week. I was using that file-sharing website you told me about when the screen suddenly (1) [froze, went off, ran] out and then the whole thing just crashed. Luckily, I had remembered to (2) [select, back up, set]up my files, so I didn’t lose too much data but it took ages to (3) [plug in, recharge, install] everything again. I was really worried about my assignment, but fortunately I’d emailed a first draft to my tutor last week so he (4) [swiped, printed, inserted] it out for me and I’ve just spent the afternoon typing it all up again. In a way, it was a good thing because I could see what was wrong with the first draft so I (5) [pinched, inserted, deleted] a lot of it and I think it’s a much better piece of writing now. Let’s hope my tutor thinks so, too!
Anyway, let’s meet up soon. Hope you’re well.
Andy

You’re right to think seriously about what laptop you want to buy. It can be an expensive (1) [download, role, purchase, stream] , so it’s a good idea to try to get it right. A lot depends on your needs, but there are some general things to think about before you splash out on a new (2) [device, network, charger, satnav] . If you’re going to carry it with you every day, you want something small and light. You’re also going to be staring at it a lot so think about the screen quality and you’ll probably be doing a lot of typing so check the (3) [flash drive, keyboard, menu, networ] quality. Another consideration is battery life. You don’t want to (4) [pop up, go off, set up, run out] when you’re in the middle of an important assignment and you’ve got nowhere to recharge. Don’t forget to check out the (5) [webcam, plug, software, wireless] capability as well – you’ll need an Internet connection for most things you do. There’s lots more to think about so follow this link to my buyer’s guide.
