My name is Jane and my hobby is painting. I like to paint animals and flowers, but I’m not good at painting people. Most of all I enjoy painting the places I visit. My parents and I often go on excursions to other towns and visit different famous places.

 My parents use a camera to take photos but I think that to have a picture which you have painted yourself is more interesting.

When I come home after each excursion, I bring my pictures to school to show them to the classmates and the teachers. Everybody likes them and they say I’ll become a famous artist in the future. Last year I took part in the competition of young painters of our town and won it. My parents were proud of me and my teacher of Art presented me wonderful paints.

 Many years ago people didn’t know about tea in European countries. Drinking tea was very popular in the East. Long ago there lived an old woman in England. She had a son who was a sailor. He went to different countries and always brought presents for his old mother.

Once he went to India and brought a box of tea from that country. The old woman was very happy to have it. But she didn’t know what to do with it. She thought it was a vegetable. She invited her friends to taste it with her. At last the day of the party came. The woman put a big dish with tea-leaves on the table. The guests started to eat them with salt and pepper and they didn’t like tea-leaves.

Sometime later the sailor came into the room. “What are you doing?” he asked. “Where is the water in which you have boiled the leaves?” “I pour it away”, his mother answered.
