WINTER TRADITIONS AND HOLIDAYS
Winter is the season when people all over the world celebrate many holidays. The most famous is, of course, Christmas, which most countries celebrate on December 25th. On this day, it is customary to give presents and decorate Christmas trees.
However, this is not the case everywhere. For example, in some Eastern countries, Christmas is celebrated on January 7th.
Another important winter holiday is New Year's Day. It is usually welcomed on January 1st. In China, however, the New Year is celebrated according to the lunar calendar, and its date changes, falling between January 21st and February 19th. In many cultures, the New Year is a time for fireworks and large family gatherings.
Another well-known holiday is St Valentine's Day, celebrated on February 14th. This is a day of love and friendship when people exchange cards and small gifts, often in the shape of a heart.
Despite the differences in dates and customs, all these winter holidays share a common trait: they give people the opportunity to spend time together, relax, and enjoy one another's company.
