Did you know that the fourth Sunday in September is World Rivers Day? It's a day to celebrate rivers and all they do for us. We asked three teenagers to tell us about a river that they know.

Tanya

My aunt lives in the city of Shanghai near the longest river in Asia. It's called the Chang Jiang, which means 'long river' in Chinese. Last summer my aunt and I went on a ship on the river. We sailed through some very unusual and very beautiful mountains in one part of our trip. It was cloudy every day, but I still got some amazing photos.

Last year I read a very funny story about three men and a dog. They sailed up the River Thames in England. I haven't sailed on the Thames but I have gone fishing there. I didn't catch anything, but I enjoyed sitting by the river in the sunshine looking at lots of interesting birds. I've also walked along the Thames in London.

I often go to a little town in the south of France. It's by the sea not far from some mountains. In winter a river runs through the town, but in summer the river bed is usually completely dry and cars can park on it! One day last summer it rained very heavily and the river filled up with water again. I saw cars moving down the river like little boats.
