Read the following text about teenagers practising different kinds of sport. Match each paragraph with the right heading. There are two extra headings that you do not need to use.
I belong to a tennis club and I practise every day. I enter a lot of competitions and it costs my parents a lot of money! I love my sport and it's a great way to keep fit and healthy, but more than that, it's a fantastic way to make friends. I have some really good mates from the club and we get together all the time - and give each other support at our competitions. I've also got to know people from other towns and clubs through competitions, which is great. I'd be lost without tennis.
A good job
I'm a big fan of football. I have been really passionate about sport, since I started going to matches with my dad when I was about five, I've always wanted to be a professional footballer. In the beginning, I just wanted to be on the pitch with everyone shouting out my name, but now I can see all the things that come with the fame - the cars, the big houses and so on. You can get all this by doing something you love. I'm a good striker and I've won a lot of trophies with the school team. It's hard work and a lot of training, but I think it will be worth it. I think I could get to the top.
A good social life
When I was younger, I wasn't really into sports at all. I preferred reading books to running round a track. However, I've put on a bit of weight recently and I've been advised to get some exercise. So, I've started getting up earlier to do some jogging before school and I've also joined the tennis club in my town. Surprisingly, I'm really enjoying it!
A need to fit in
I started running when I was about ten years old and, at the moment, I'm a county junior champion at 100 metres. I've always enjoyed competition. In class, I try to be top, and even with my friends, I like to have the latest clothes or the most recent smartphone! So in sport, all that matters is coming first - which I nearly always do! If I lose too often, then I'll give up and take up something new instead. I really admire top sports professionals - they've beaten everyone to get to that position.
A passion for winning
A healthy change
An alternative to boredom

Read the following text about a new sports centre. Match each paragraph with the right heading. There are two extra headings that you do not need to use.
The New Sport Center.
After a very long time, the Westhall Leisure Centre finally pened last weekend and the public were allowed inside to perience the facilities for the first time. Construction of the centre had taken longer than expected as it should have med more than two months ago. The developers say that weather caused problems during the building but it is pected that the company also had financial difficulties. This has been a very expensive project.
A local need satisfied
The centre will make a big difference to the people who live in the area. In the past, people had to travel long distances to large towns like Westbridge or Parklands to do sports. This took time and money. Now that specialists are encouraging us all to lead healthier lifestyles, it is important to give people the chance to exercise close to home. The Westhall Leisure centre does exactly that.
Advantages not just for participants
The centre is superb, with a wide range of facilities and equipment. Sports enthusiasts will love the Olympic-size wimming pool, while the kids can enjoy the smaller, stalower pool beside it. Westhall provides a large number off indoor courts for racket sports such as badminton and quash, and the indoor tennis courts will no doubt be very popular when it's pouring with rain outside! There are areas gymnastics and martial arts, which will be useful for parts professionals as well as amateurs. And classes will be offered for older people who just want to keep fit.
A well-deserved success
Westhall is a very well designed leisure centre. It's a wonderfully airy building with lots of glass so that you can see what people are doing. More importantly, there is also a lot of room for the public in the sports halls and by the pools so that parents and friends can watch club competitions. It also means that the centre will be able to host bigger events for the local area. The catering facilities as well as car parking space can cope with large numbers of visitors.
The wait is over
Sports for everyone
An opening to remember

Read the following article about three pairs of siblings. Match each question with the correct part of the text. One part of the text matches two questions.
Sports Siblings
In which paragraph does the author
It is impossible to talk about tennis without thinking of the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus. They are close in age - only separated by one year - and close in ability. This has fuelled fierce competition between the siblings throughout their long careers in professional tennis. Both have held the world number one position and they have both faced and beaten the other in the finals of international championships. It takes a lot of determination and conviction to be able to put a personal relationship aside for the duration of a match and they get a lot of respect for this. Off court, the sisters are friends and, playing as a team, they have won countless doubles championships together.
point out the superiority of one of the siblings?
The triathlon is a tough athletics event, including a long swim, a cycle ride and finishing with a gruelling run. It is an event in which brothers, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee from the UK excel, having won gold and silver at the last summer Olympic Games. Alistair, as always, beat his brother into second place. In some families, sporting rivalry can create friction and destroy relationships, but for the Brownlees, being brothers seems to have helped them push each other to the limits in order to become the very best. They appear to have a happy, healthy, competitive relationship. They live together, train together and compete against each other. For the moment, at least, they seem to accept that Alistair will always be the boss - even in the kitchen!
refer to a decision made to protect siblings' personal relationship?
Another pair of brothers who dominate their sport are the Klitschko brothers, Vitali and Vladimir, champion heavyweight boxers from Ukraine. These two giants are not only incredibly strong and successful boxers but they also both hold doctorates in sports psychology, speak four languages fluently and have a deep interest in social and political issues. They have a good strong and supportive relationship and go to each other's fights, but they have never faced each other in the ring. Nor are they likely to. The brothers promised their mother never to fight each other and they will probably keep their word. They are, however, fiercely competitive in other fields and often face each other over a game of chess.
mention a negative aspect of sibling rivalry?
