The internet = A better life?

Are our lives better with the internet? We asked two people and they gave us their opinions.

Jodi, 38, says: ‘I often tell my children about life before the internet, email and mobile phones. Life was slower, we had more time and people were more active. I think that technology is great, but these days children are always on their computer. They are never with other people and they don’t like waiting. They want things to be fast: fast food, instant messaging, etc. Sometimes I think the old days were better. But then I look at my ebook and my MP3 player and I don’t know. My husband says we’re lucky: we can use new technology, but we also lived before the internet.

Alex, 20, says: ‘We have much more free time now. I can buy lots of things online and I don’t need to go to town. That was a pain! I don’t need to have lots of books in my room because I can find all the information online. I read newspapers online and I watch films on my laptop. I can also meet new people and listen to music online. Life with the internet is wonderful!’
