Read part of an article about people's summer jobs. Mark the sentences Right, Wrong or Doesn't say.
I'm Jade. I'm eighteen and I've just finished secondary school. I'm going to university in September to study Maths. A few months ago I decided to look for a summer job because I'll need some money when I'm at university! I looked online and found an excellent job as a tour guide in my city. But it's an unusual tour guide job!
Usually a tour guide takes tourists to popular sights in a city and tells them about the history of the different plaaces. I do that but I don't do it during the day. I do it at night! Every Monday and Thursday evening I take a small group of tourists to old buildings in the city. It's a 'ghost' tour and I tell them about the people who lived and died in the houses. I also tell them ghost stories about the places. We go in the dark without any lights and it's a bit scary! But the tourists love it and I love it too! It's much more interesting than working in a supermarket.

The Owner
'This is a very small hotel but we are always full in the summer. It's difficult to keep everyone happy. My workers want to go home early, the customers want help and I just want to sleep! I don't spend a lot of time with the customers because I'm responsible for money, ordering things for the hotel, advertising and lots of other things but I'm always here if the customers need to see me. The workers finish at 9 p.m. and, after that, I'm responsible for the hotel. I don't often have a quiet night because there's always a problem. People lose their keys and come back at 2 a.m.! Someone can't sleep because the people in the next room are shouting. It's a very demanding job!'
The Part-time Worker
'I start work at 7 a.m. and make breakfast. There are only four rooms here and breakfast is at 9 a.m. Then I clean the breakfast room. When people leave the hotel, I give them their bills and make sure they pay the correct amount, I clean the rooms and then I go home. Sometimes, when no one is leaving, I can go home at 11 o'clock. When all four people leave on the same day, I work until 2 p.m. I work three days a week and another woman works on the other four days. The owner is very nice but he's a bit lazy. He doesn't talk to the customers very often. He just sits in his office looking at his computer.
The Volunteer
I'm Australian and I'm having a cheap holiday. I don't earn anything but I get a free room and breakfast at the hotel and I can go to the pub next door for free lunch. There are part-time workers here who work in the morning so I can get up late and make breakfast when I want. I start work at 2 p.m. Sometimes, people arrive at the hotel and I show them to their rooms or talk to them about the town. I'm just here to answer questions if the customers want to know something. It can be boring because I work alone. The owner is here but I don’t really see him. I send the guests to him if they have any problems. I read a lot – even at work! I finish work at 9 p.m. and then I go out and have fun!

TEENAGERS HELPING TEENAGERS
Some people thought it could never work.
Teenagers need help from adults, right? Not from other teenagers. Well, plenty of people will tell you that talking to someone who is experiencing the same things as you are, feeking the same thing as you are feeling works very well indeed. The success of TenPhone proves it!
TeenPhone is a confidential telephone helpline for teenage callers. It took its first phone call in 1980 after a grooup of mental health professionals realised, through their work with teenagers, that when teenagers have problems, they usually turn first to people of their age for advice. Many teens think their parent don't understand what's happening in their life. They are also frightened that their friends might laugh at them or think they are stupid. TeenPhone provides a safe, confidental place to talk about things another teenager who can understand and will listen, but not judge. This listening can make a huge difference -- sometimes a life-changing one. Each year nearly 20,000 young people call the TeenPhone hotline and over 50, 000 more attend the meetings they set around the country. Teenagers know they can trust TeenPhone, and they do.
The phone line is open every day from 4:00pm to 10:00pm and is free to call. If you have a problem or just want to talk with another teen who understands, then it's the right place for you! You can email or even text TeenPhone and they will text or email you right back. The TeenPhone website also offers message boards, resources and information.
The TeenPhone volunteers who answer the calls, emails and texts are specially trained teenagers. They won't judge you or give advice -- their job is to listen to your feelings and help you to clarify your worries, talk about possible things you can do to make things better, and help you make positive decisions.
TeenPhone's adults staff carefully choose about a hundred teenagers a year for hotline training. They complete a sxty-hour training program which practises specialized listening and communication techniques. To qualify, they must live in the UK and be at least 14 years old. Volunteers are unpaid for the work they do but they get expenses for travel. If you want to check our websites, it has details of how to contact them amd more information about volunteering. See their advert under this article for the adress.
