What have you done to help the environment?
Students at Derwent Secondary School have started some exciting schemes to protect and improve their local environment. Read the school blog and find out what they have done. We’ve cleaned up the pond in the centre of our village. With the help of some friends, we’ve picked up all the litter and pulled things out of the pond. There was an old wheel and a supermarket basket in it! Now, it’s really clean and we are going to put fish in it. Marie and Louise
We’ve started a recycling programme at our school. People throw away a lot of paper every day. We’ve put a recycle box in every classroom and collected a lot of used paper. After school, we’ve taken the paper to the recycling centre near the school. Jerry and Hayley
My two brothers and I have tidied up a playground near our house. We picked up all therubbish then we hung a sign on a fence that read, ‘Please Keep Our Park Clean’. It was really hard work but I’m very pleased with what we have achieved. I think it’s really important that young people take responsibility for looking after the environment. Wendy
