As winter approaches, the weather starts getting colder. But that doesn’t mean that you should, too! Here are some of the things you can do to stay warm this winter:
1 [WRAP UP WARM, EAT AND DRINK WELL, KEEP THE COLD OUTDOORS]
It may seem obvious, but wearing lots of clothes is the best way to stay warm! Try to wear several thin layers instead of one thick layer. This traps warm air close to the body. Also, wear a hat and socks - even when you’re indoors!
2 [KEEP THE COLD OUTDOORS, EAT AND DRINK WELL, WRAP UP WARM]
Another way to stay warm is by making yourself a nice cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. It’s also important to make sure you have lots of energy by choosing the right foods, such as potatoes, pasta, bread and rice. Try making a pot of soup or stew; it’s a great way to stay warm while also being healthy!
3 [EAT AND DRINK WELL, KEEP THE COLD OUTDOORS, WRAP UP WARM]
Finally, remember to keep your house as warm as possible. Close all doors, windows and curtains to trap the heat inside. Place a towel at the foot of the door to prevent cold air from getting in and put a rug on your floor to keep your feet warm. Don’t sit and freeze this winter; follow our advice and keep yourself cosy until spring!

AN ENGLISH TEACHER IN ITALY
My name’s Pauline. I’m thirty. I come from the UK, but I don’t live there. I live in Naples, in Italy. I’m a teacher. I teach English to Italian students.
I came to Italy three years ago. At first, I didn’t know any Italian, but now I can speak it well. I never speak Italian in the classroom – only English!
I enjoy living in Italy. It’s very different from the UK. It’s hotter here, and I think the food is better. People here eat a lot of pasta!
Will I go back to England in the future? I don’t know, but I’m definitely going to stay in Naples for another year. I’m very happy here!
Pauline is British / Italian.
