A lot of people work there, but very few actually live in this part of London. There are some places to visit here. One of them is the Tower of London. It was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. It is a museum now. One of the buildings with ancient history is the White Tower. William the Conqueror, who came to England from Normandy became a King of England. In the eleventh century he built the White Tower to live in it, as he was afraid of Englishmen. The square walls of this building are white and very tall. Black ravens always live there. There is a belief that London will be rich and powerful all the time while ravens live in the Tower.
Not far from the Tower of London one can see unbelievably beautiful church, St. Paul’s Cathedral. It was built after the Great Fire of London by the famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren. It took him 35 years to finish this marvelous building with its columns and towers.
The third place you should see while your walking or bus tour is Trafalgar Square. It is one of the most spectacular places in London. In the middle of the square stands a monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from there. You will probably be admired with two beautiful fountains in front of the National Gallery, which is one of the best picture galleries in the world.
