Grading

Grading is a          [progress, minimum, method]used in schools to         [marking, record, pass]students’ achievements.

Almost every         [teacher, school, grade] keeps a record of each student’s             [achievement, adjustment, percentage] in order to have some basis for measuring his          [minimum, record, progress]. The record supplies information for          [colleges, records, letter] to parents.

Universities and          [common, school, colleges]often use this

information to help determine whether they should         [admit, pass, marking] a student.

For a long time, the most             [perfect, common, ocasionally] method of recording achievement was by         [marking, pass, reports], with a mark or            [percentage, letter, record], of 100 per cent representing         [perfect, common, failure] achievement.

The          [minimum, average, attitude] mark for a        [record, admit, pass] was usually 70 percent, and for         [average, minimum, marking] work, about 80 per cent. Today, the letters A, B, C, D, E and              [failure, occasionally, minimum] F, are much more commonly used.

The mark A stands for exceptional achievement, and E or F means         [failure, perfect, grade] .

A few schools use no          [grade, progress, failure] system at all.

Instead, each         writes a detailed        to the parents.
