Reading: Inventions and Discoveries

Inventions and discoveries have always played a crucial role in the development of human civilization. From the earliest tools made of stone to modern digital technologies, people have constantly searched for ways to improve their lives and better understand the world around them.

One of the most important inventions in history was the printing press, created by Johannes Gutenberg in the 15th century. It allowed books to be produced quickly and cheaply, making knowledge more accessible to ordinary people. This invention contributed greatly to the spread of education and new ideas.

Another significant development was the invention of electricity. Scientists such as Michael Faraday and Thomas Edison helped transform electricity into a practical source of energy. As a result, homes, streets, and factories could be illuminated and powered, which completely changed everyday life.

Some discoveries, however, were made unexpectedly. For instance, Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin by accident when he noticed that a certain type of mold could kill bacteria. This discovery marked the beginning of modern antibiotics and has saved millions of lives since then.

In the 21st century, technological progress continues at an incredible speed. Innovations such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and space exploration are shaping the future. While these advancements bring many benefits, they also raise important ethical and environmental questions that society must address.
