A HAUNTED HOUSE
Some people believe in ghosts and others don’t. I’m not quitesure myself, mainly because of the experiences I had when I was a student. I was sharing a big old
house with two other students, Pauline and Fiona. There were only two bedrooms
so they had to share. Fiona didn’t mind because she had decided the house was too
spooky to be in on her own. She was right. For example, it often sounded like people were moving around upstairs when there wasn’t anyone up there. Also, one night, when we were watching TV, the books suddenly jumped off one of the shelves.
Pauline believed that it could all be explained. I didn’t really care. However, Fiona was very worried. She thought there were ghosts living there and would always try to
make sure she wasn’t home alone. One evening, I was walking home when I saw a light on in the house, so I decided to play a joke on the girls. I entered the house quietly and walked upstairs. I opened their bedroom door and ran in screaming. Unfortunately,Fiona was on her own. The poor girl was so frightened it took her hours to calm down. The next day, she started looking for somewhere else to live, and Pauline and I had our own rooms
1. The writer and Pauline were sleeping in the same room.
