It was a sunny morning in April. The sky was blue, and the birds were singing. Our classroom was full of happy voices. We were talking about summer. Yes, it was still spring, but we were excited about the holidays. We couldn’t wait for the bell to ring in June. The bell to summer!
Our English teacher, Miss Emma, walked into the classroom with a big smile.
"Good morning, class!" she said.
"Good morning, Miss Emma!" we answered together.
"Today we are going to talk about your summer holidays," she said. "I know it is only April, but it’s never too early to plan!"
We were very happy. Summer is our favorite time of the year. No school, no homework, just fun, sun, and adventures!
Miss Emma gave us a big sheet of paper. "This is your holiday planner," she said. "You can write, draw, or even stick pictures. Tell me what you want to do this summer!"
We took our colored pencils and started working. My best friend, Max, wrote, "I want to go to the mountains with my family." He drew tall green trees and a big blue tent.
Sofia, who sits next to me, drew a beach. "I want to swim in the sea and eat ice cream every day!" she said. She drew herself in a pink swimsuit and a big yellow sun above her head.
I also made my plan. I want to visit my grandparents in the village. I love feeding the chickens and picking cherries from the trees. I wrote, "I want to help Grandpa in the garden and play with our dog Rex." I drew my grandma’s house and the big apple tree in front of it.
Then Miss Emma asked us to share our plans. Everyone had something different. Anna wants to go to a summer camp. "We will sleep in tents and play games all day!" she said. Ben wants to stay in the city and ride his new bike in the park. Lisa wants to learn how to bake cakes with her mom.
After the activity, Miss Emma told us about her plans too. "I want to travel to Italy. I want to see the old buildings and eat pizza!" We all laughed and said, "Yum!"
In May, we made more summer posters. We learned new words like “travel,” “swim,” “hike,” and “camp.” We played games and sang summer songs in class. One day, we even wore sunglasses in the lesson and pretended we were at the beach!
By June, our classroom walls were full of summer dreams. There were drawings of beaches, mountains, ice cream, swimming pools, and animals. Some students wanted to visit the zoo. Others wanted to read books or watch movies with their families.
Planning our summer holidays made us very happy. It gave us hope and something to look forward to. Even the rainy April days felt better with sunny thoughts in our minds.
Our teacher told us, “Dreaming is the first step. Planning is the second. Living the moment is the best!”
And then, the bell rang — not the last bell of the school year yet, but it felt like a small bell to summer. We smiled. Summer was coming.
