Nick and Marcus were good friends. They were in the same class at school. Nick worked hard, always doing his homework and getting high marks for it. In the examinations he was always the best in the class. His teachers liked him very much. His handwriting was very good.
They liked Marcus too, but for another reason. They liked him because he was such a happy boy. But Marcus didn't work at all. His marks were always low. He was the weakest boy in the class. But he knew how to make people laugh.
One day in June I saw both boys in the street. I said, "Hello! How was the English exam?" Marcus answered happily, "Oh, it was easy. Nick and I were both the first. He was the first from the top, and I was the first from the bottom."
