TRAVELLING TO SIRACUSA

There are many ways to reach Siracusa in Sicily and the one you take depends on what you want. Several budget airlines fly direct to Catania, just 60 km north of Siracusa. From there, you can get a bus, train or taxi. This is the cheapest and quickest option but there are more exciting alternatives. One idea is to fly into Rome and then take the overnight train. We wake up to stunning views of Mount Etna and relax on the train until we arrive in the centre of Siracusa at about 10 a.m. Finally, how about combining your trip with a visit to Malta, a fascinating island just a four-hour ferry ride to the south like we did?

WHY SO NEGATIVE?

I can’t understand some of the comments on this page. I visited Albania in July this year and it was beautiful. The people were friendly, prices were low, buses were comfortable and my hotels were clean and pleasant. The best thing is that it is much quieter than Greece or Spain. From our hotel, we could see the island of Corfu across the sea but, fortunately, we couldn’t hear the loud music and noisy tourists. I hope Albania doesn’t change in the future. For me, it is perfect as it is.
