THE LONGEST RIVER IN THE WORLD
Both the Nile and the Amazon have been considered the longest rivers in the world at some point in history. (1) people would probably choose the Nile, but the truth is that it is not that easy to determine which is the longest river. Much depends (2) how you measure it. Nor, in the case of really big rivers, is it that easy to decide where the river originates, as the sources may be located in remote places (3) are difficult to access. Traditionally the Nile has been considered the longest, but recently, thanks to GPS technologies, more accurate measurements (4) possible. As a result, some sources and specialists claim that the Amazon is longer, as the real source of the river can be found from 75 to 92 kilometres (5) than previously thought.
