If you want to take a trip on the most luxurious train in the world, the Seven Stars, you need to have patience and time, and money, of course. You can’t just buy tickets: you need to take (1) in a lottery to book one of the 14 suites – months in advance. The prices start at $2,900 per person for the shortest trip which (2) two days and one night. The longest trips can last six days, with some nights spent in luxurious hotels.
The Seven Stars travels through the Japanese island of Kyushu, (3) its hot springs, beaches and volcanic peaks. The train can take 28 passengers, who can admire the views from the lounge car through the panoramic windows. They stay in beautifully designed suites with private toilets and showers.
