Colour is the appearance that things have that results from the way in which they reflect light. The visible spectrum of colour as we see it, consists of seven main colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
Red, yellow and blue are primary colours. Green, orange and purple are secondary colours. Secondary colours are created by mixing equal parts of any two primary colours. Tertiary colours (red-purple, blue-green, yellow-orange, etc.) are created by mixing equal parts of a secondary colour and a primary colour together.
Each colour has plenty of shades.
For example, wine red is a dark red colour while royal blue is a deep bright blue colour.
Olive green is a grey-green colour. Salmon pink is orange-pink in colour, like the inside of a salmon.
Primrose yellow is a pale yellow colour.
Mustard yellow is between yellow and brown in colour.
Emerald green = bright green in colour.
Cobalt blue is a deep blue-green colour.
Jet black = deep shiny black in colour.
Dazzling = so bright that you cannot see for a short time (a dazzling white light).
Brick red = a brownish red colour.
