- Today we are going to talk about cinema and theatre. Cinema and TV films have become an important part in our life. Some of us like going to the theatre too.

Answer the questions:

What kinds of theatrical performances can spectators watch at the theatre? Where can the visitors buy their tickets?

Where can you leave your coats and hats?

Who meets you at the entrance to the theatre hall?

What can you see inside the theatre hall?

Where do the musicians sit?

Are there any intervals in the play? What do the spectators do during the intervals?

Most of the famous theatres in Britain are found in London. There are more than fifty theatres in the West End. Many of the shows which go on in the West End are light comedies, but some theatres put on more serious plays. One of the England’s leading companies is the Royal Shakespeare Company, at the Aldwych Theatre. There they put on new and old plays, and Shakespearean plays. The National Theatre is also one of London’s most famous theatres. The building is modern, and the plays are classics and new productions.
