  Procedure

  1.Introduction

  Do you have a favorite movie? What movies do you like? Today we will have an interesting lesson. We will talk about films and their genres. So, out lesson will be connected with TV programs, especially with films. We’ll speak about types of films, work over some texts, do different tasks, speak about your favourite films and present your project works.

    My favorite film “Home alone”

    From year to year we celebrate Christmas and other winter holidays. Every family has its own traditions and customs of spending the holiday. Historically, during all the fuss around the preparation, people usually turn on the TV and just watch Christmas programs and films. As for me, my favorite film is “Home Alone”.

    “Home Alone” is filmed in 1990 and it is certainly the greatest success of director Chris Columbus. In this story Mr. and Mrs. McCallisters want to spend Christmas in Paris with the whole family. Unfortunately, on the day of departure due to broken electricity lines, everyone wakes up later than planned. As a result parents forget about eight-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), who was sleeping in the attic. At first time, the boy is pleased with the situation. He does what he wants and how he wants. At the same time, the house where Kevin lives is being watched by sneaky thieves, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). They want to break into it on Christmas Eve, when the neighbors are too busy to notice anything disturbing. Kevin does not want to let that happen. He is preparing some smart traps for thieves.

    In my opinion, “Home Alone” is already a tradition. Although I know this movie by heart and I watch it every year, I always have the same fun. Every year, my family and I sit in front of the TV to watch the adventures of the little boy again. First of all, the movie has this magical atmosphere that I just can’t resist. Secondly, there is a fantastic cast. Macaulay Culkin perfectly showed us the character of smart Kevin. Despite his young age, he played simply wonderfully. I could not fail to mention the actors of the two funniest thieves in the history of cinema. played extremely skillfully. Other actors such as John Heard, Gerry Bamman and Catherine O’Hara also did well. Another great plus of the film is the excellent soundtrack. There is a lot of great music that greatly convey the “Home Alone” atmosphere. The next important thing is directing. Actually, Chris Columbus did a great job. He managed to combine all the advantages, I have mentioned before, thanks to which he created a timeless work. I thank him with all my heart.

    To sum up, “Home Alone” is a sensational family comedy, which can entertain even after 10 times watching it. I understand that the film may have already got bored (after all the years they have been playing it), but there is no reason to hate the film. Its annual broadcast does not change the fact that “Home Alone” is certainly a masterpiece in its category. I recommend to watching this film everyone!
