My city

My City:

I was born and live in the small city in Western Ukraine. All my childhood memories are here, from playing in the sandbox with other children to going to the cinema with my parents on weekends.

We have great number of monuments, ancient buildings, several green parks and beautiful public gardens in our city. We like to go there for a walk sometimes. There are a lot of benches, sparkling fountains in summer, and pleasantly rustling fallen leaves underfoot in autumn in my city.

I really like the wide sidewalks with different flowerbeds. In the evenings, street musicians perform in the center of the city, usually they play jazz. There are “live” sculptures in one of the biggest parks in our city. They amuse adults and children. Sometimes, a circus comes to us and brings the real fun.

My friends and I often went on “exploration” along the streets of the city, discovering new routes in search of adventures. On weekends, we gather in the yard, talk and play different games.

Our city changes in winter, especially when it starts to snow. It seems to be so quiet. Sales begins on New Year’s Eve in shopping centres and everyone goes there for gifts.

If I had the opportunity to move somewhere else, I would never use it. Indeed, for me, my hometown will remain the best and most beloved city forever. My parents and I grew up here. Someday I will be pleased to tell my children or grandchildren about this wonderful time, looking through childhood photos and recollecting all the stories.

Everyone shows love for their hometown in their own way. Poets, for example, write poems about it, artists paint pictures, composers dedicate musical works to it. But I wrote an essay about my city.
