I Warming up
Good morning. Why don't we start our lesson with a short discussion? What do you think about today's weather? Answer in Ukrainian, please. (Pps answers: I think the weather is холодна/тепла сьогодні.)
Well, what was the weather yesterday? Answer in Ukrainian, please.
(Pps answers: I think the weather was холодніше/ тепліше).
And what about last month?
(Pps answers: It was the warmest/ coldest).
Now, you see, we compare the weather. In English, we should use Degrees of comparison of adjectives to compare things. When we want to compare two things,people,places, animals, we should use Comparative form of adjectives and the word "than'(i.e. comparative form+than). We should use Superlative forms when we compare one person, thing, animal or place with more than two people, things, animals or places in the same group. Before superlative form we should use the article "the"(i.e. the+superlative form+of/in)
Now, let's speak in English about yesterday and today's weather!
